  • I contributed to the introduction and a brief overview of the MCAS system for the presentation slides

Interpretation of Quote by Marybeth Miceli

“I contend that we (engineers) are undervalued because of our widespread inability to explain what we do to the general public (and why it is so important). It is one of the hardest goals to accomplish, to be able to boil down difficult concepts into a short and easily understood presentation or elevator pitch.” Marybeth Miceli, President, Miceli Infrastructure Consulting, USA (2011) This quote highlights the importance of communication for engineers when trying to bring across ideas to others from non-engineering backgrounds.  The quote resonates with me, especially the part where "to boil down difficult concepts". For engineers, most of our topics and concepts involve complex theories and terminologies and this usually requires some form of background knowledge to understand . The Dyson AM09, also known as the Hot+Cool™ Jet Focus fan heater, is a bladeless fan designed for both hot and cold weather. Its dimensions are 23.43 inches (59.5 cm) in height, 6.02 inches (15.3 cm) in length, 4.45 inches (11.3 cm) in width, and 5.91 lbs (2.68 kg) in weight. The AM09 uses ceramic plates to warm the user and the Air Multiplier™ technology to cool them down (Dyson US, n.d.). The Air Multiplier™ technology lets the fan dispense smooth air 15 times faster, even without spinning parts (Salisbury’s Appliances, 2024). Furthermore, it does not have any exposed heating parts.
